Battle for Ohio recap

The Battle series is wrapped up. It ended up on a bad note for me. I took a hard high side crash on Saturday and there was no way I could ride on Sunday from the pain.

Overall I personally think the series was great once again. Not sure what the rider count was, but I do know the Vet classes were larger this year and were stacked with some fast guys. Running the quads and PWs on Saturday night, was great.

All the tracks were prepped great. Chili town fixed their track from the qualifier, and I thought it was much better for the Battle race. Malvern prep was great and the track is always a lot of fun. Briarcliff prep was great always. Wish more tracks had JOs dirt. Even after first practice on Sunday morning, the dirt does not even stick under the fenders!! JO made some track changes. Slowed down part of the track with some S turns. I did not care for it, I preferred the old layout much better. Spoke to others about it, and some liked it. I know my son made several passes in that section. Only complaint I heard from many was moving the corner closer to the finish line. It caused a lot of braking bumps right as you landed and made it a little sketchy.

I want to thank Jeremy, Jason and Jeremy for putting the series on. It is definitely the best series e have had in ohio in years. It works being three races. Keeps all of them more of an event. Anymore than 3 and it will hurt the product in my opinion. Job well done by all the workers.

I must say we had a blast at all 3 rounds!

Austin won the PW class overall going 1-2-1 at the races. This weekend I rode for the first time, probably way too early but eff it!! I rode one practice group on sat so I got out 3 times and that was plenty. The track changes were perfect IMO. It really slowed the track down overall and made for great passing opportunities. The finish line did get braking bumps but was a huge separator for skill, only those who could land the finish line jump well could clear it and make the turn really good.

Sat afternoon the skies opened up for a bit and made a muddy mess for the rest of the evening. Austin won the 2nd moto in the mud by a ling shot in his pink tutu, it was great! I need to post a pic of him on the track when I find one.

The 3 race series is perfect, I believe however that all 3 rounds should be attended for an award. I think it would help bring more riders to all 3 rounds. In the results you see that many riders only attend 2 rounds. Its only 3 races, I dont think it is too much to ask.

Great job OMA!!! The Battle Series has become a fantastic OHIO race series!

Towergal, are the paragraphs short enough??????

Guess what! none of the BAKERS got hurt this year!! Well that was because we didnt show up to b-cliff. LOL Im sure it was great and hope everyone had a blast.

I didn't race the series but just wanted to say that in regards to slowing down the back straight with the S-turns at BC...I very much liked that, gives a person more of a chance to practice slower speed tight turns with some ruts.

Had a great time at all 3 races. Really like how the 3 races were a little more spread out this year. I wouldn't change the format at all. It really feels like you have to earn one of these series titles, you don't get a Battle Series title by just showing up to the most races.

Side note: Maybe it was a good thing for JO to step away from PitRacer for a while, 325+ for practice and 645 for the race was a nice turnout. ;)

I dont think that drove the numbers, its the product. Having JO gone just reduces the fun factor on here. What were last years numbers?

Every time I've been to cliff I've never noticed quads. JO does a good job with that place and the track is wide enough to allow both on the track. The track looked good in those go pros too.

Nice write up, I was sorry to hear about Rob. I know that was hard on JO and a lot of other people there.

I have to say though, you knew I would, If +30 didnt show up on time too bad, you start without them. To call them out as a group and say " they will never be first again. Never." hurts the guys, and gals, that were there on time. Showing up on time is part of racing. I didnt race and I knew when +30 was starting. Its statements like that why he isnt on here any more not the responses.
