Will Trump make it? Government corruption?

Entitlements will be the downfall of us.

Take Illinois for example...hasn't passed a budget in 3 years or so...$14B in debt...I believe all of the state's budget goes to either debts, pensions and so on and so forth (aka no discretionary money). They're essentially insolvent.

Meanwhile, many people have planned on living the remainder of their days off their promised pensions. They're about to be, or eventually will be, in a real pickle. And what are they to do? Go back to work?

I can see the riots now!

How do we stop it? it doesn't matter...it won't be stopped- political suicide...

Like a parasite that dies with its host, the entitlements will stop when the government has nothing left to hand out.

A lot of the fears that many of my elders that I work with that are ready to retire, and those who have already left, are wondering when the government is going to take over the pensions. And we have many that lump-sum out instead, and their concern is the day that our broke government basically steals your retirement assets and force you into some sort of government pension.

Think about it: As a country, we are basically insolvent when you look at our national debt and deficit, and rate of borrowing. All the while you have trillions of dollars sitting in American workers retirement accounts, just ripe for the picking. Could just be a matter of time.

They'll get fifty cents on the dollar for their pension from the PBGC, until the PBGC goes completely broke, and then they will be in the pickle. I've read that the agency is in trouble now as it stands. (wonder if Illinois pension program is a regular pension or a PERS/Public Employees Retirement System and if it's backed by the PBGC ??)

Happened to my grandpa when Kaiser Aluminum defaulted on their pension. After 40+ years of service, his pension payments were cut in half.

He took a part time retirement job with the City of Newark water treatment plant until he could no longer work anymore.

If Washington won't fix itself the Constitution gives the governed a remedy and it's Article V. How many states are onboard now? Strange the way the media doesn't cover this? Well, not really...

Most people think there's nothing you can do. But at some point the states are gonna need to check up on big bad government. But even then the states are just as bad look at Illinois and the lotto like previously posted....
