Overview by Dane Leimbach
The Amherst Meadowlarks Motorcycle Club was formed in 1954 by a group of guys who used to hang around the Penton Brothers Motorcycle Agency (now known as Penton Honda/Suzuki), owned of course by John, Bill, Ike, and Ted Penton. The present club grounds was purchased in 1956 and began as a scrambles track, before motocross existed in the US.
Presently, the facility operates as a private club, affiliated with the CRA and riding there is by invitation of the members only or come one, come all on race days. If anyone wishes to become a member of the Club, membership applications are accepted at meetings, which are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of every month. Once members are accepted into the Club, they have full use of the grounds except when other members have reserved the property for private functions. Race day gate entry to the grounds is free to all members and their immediate family members.
