E Bike "nuisance"

So everyone thought, buy an E Bike. I can ride it in the city, I can have a track in my back yard. I kept telling people that they would just find another reason to ban them. Dust, soil erosion whatever they can find.

Well here in Florida, many city councils are all over the news dealing with E Bike (bicycle) legislation in their cities. Many have it on their current agendas. Watching the news today, one city is proposing the following:
No E bikes on side walks less than 8 feet wide.
Riders and passengers under 16 must wear helmets.
Kids under 15 will not be allowed to operate e-biles
All e bike riders must carry a photo ID
Speed limit for all e bikes would be 10 MPH
$100 fine per violation

I think some of this is ridiculous. But around here I also see the numerous dumb a***s on E Bikes and scooters daily around here on roads and sidewalks. They absolutely ride like idiots around traffic. So all those that thought e bikes were the answer........buzzzzzz.

The government is cracking down. It's Florida today, and will be Ohio tomorrow.

Of course they are cracking down on it. The entire E-pit bike stuff has gotten out of control.

I see people ripping down city sidewalks/streets on them. If that's fine now then how come back in the 70s/80s I couldn't rip down sidewalks on XR80s? Well I technically DID do that...it just wasn't allowed haha and if I got caught my bike would be in the City Impound....which is where I got my '74 XR75 from in the first place!

Only a matter of time. You see people riding them everywhere. Seen them riding in the highway in downtown Cleveland.

Someone we know, their daughter was riding an e-bike down a hill. Blew through a stoplight and hit a landscape trailer that was turning. Broken leg. Knocked out teeth. Broken wrist. Concussion. Really messed up. 13yrs old.

The e-bike is no different than a moped. But I will say… pedal assist is pretty amazing

you cant fix stupid

do dumb s**t get in trouble seems like common sense to me. dumb kids just dont think theyll get caught.

my newest e bike will do 72 mph... most kids under 15 (ie not kids dont have experience riding motocross bikes) ... have no business riding something like that especially in the public, near other people's property.

Yupp my bike would do 68 with the stock gearing in hyper mode. Loved it, but i needed more power. 14kw wasn’t enough. I need close to 30kw

How is that the e-bikes fault? Lmfao!!! Blew through a stop sign? No different than a gas powered motorcycle, or a car!! Or even a pedal bike!! They all have brakes!! Let’s point the finger at the parents!!! If your child can’t ride or drive something without knowing how to use the brakes, or know what brakes are,or what a stop sign means!!!! yall got no business operating such equipment!!! Not the bikes fault!! Duh!!!!!
