Rules:
- The Chili Cook-Off is FREE to enter.
- Deadline to enter is 1pm Saturday October 17th.
- All Chili samples to be turned in no later than 5:45pm Saturday October 17th.
- All team/chili must be given a name. Be creative but teams are not to use a name that is revealing of the team. For example names such as “Jeremy Forcum’s Fire Pit Chili” or “Kim’s Krazy Hot Chili” are prohibited.
- All teams should be prepared to make a minimum of 1 gallon of chili.
- All teams are responsible for their own cooking devices and materials.
- All teams are responsible for their own condiments such as crackers, cheese, onions, etc.
- The “Bat Cave Crew” will be judging the entries on five categories.
- Color – Chili should look appetizing, reddish brown is generally accepted as good.
- Aroma – Chili should smell good. This also indicates what’s in store when you taste it.
- Consistency – Chili must have a good ratio between sauce and meat. It should not be dry, watery, grainy, lumpy, or greasy.
- Taste – Taste, above all else, taste is the most important factor. The taste should consist of a combination of meat, spices, etc. with no particular ingredient being dominant.
- After-taste – The aftertaste or bite is the heat created by the various types of spices and or peppers.
- Awards and prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
