Log road is a fun track. Mostly loamy but will have some ruts for sure. They run a very good program.

Basically like Sharc said it is old school, high speed and not too jumpy, alot of natural terrain. They normally have open practice Saturday then race Sunday. That may help with the 3 hour drive.

No word officially but I don't see them doing Ironman races anytime soon. They nearly doubled the parking lot last year which cutout part of the back section. The day track does have a loop that uses part of the back section that the night track doesn't use. Side note- I greatly enjoyed that...

You forgot the biggest thing, combining the 2 coast would mean 1 less championship for the factories to fight for. Championships mean money, I don't see the factories wanting to reduce the odds of winning one
