BSA Rally in Toronto Ohio, includes Dual Sport & Adventure Ride

This is a great rally, especially if you are into European bikes. Camping is free, just an admission charge, there is a weekend long swap meet, they raffle off a restored BSA, there is a great Trials race, Dual Sport and Adventure ride, among many other activities. I have been going to this event for years, which is twice a year: June and August. The Dual sport is called The Reliability Run and is about 100 miles, one day and somewhat easier than the traditional AMA dual sports. It's a great event for a vintage dual sport, or a beginner looking to find out what dual sporting is all about. It still is pretty challenging, prefaced by a big river and a steep, muddy uphill that usually spaces the riders out rather nicely. Here's the flyer for the June event:

I use to go to that event every year with my neighbor until he died a few years ago. I"m still a member of the OVBSA OC and own a 69 BSA 650 lightning. They have a trials course to for you guys that own those bikes. Or you can try you Valkyrie out if you have 1 like this guy.

Hey everyone, don't forget to attend the BSA Rally on June 4 & 5 in Toronto, Ohio, about 2 hours away. The reliability run dual sport is on Saturday, June 4th. it's only a 100 miles and allows vintage bikes as well. It is somewhat easier than a Hanging Rock or Renfro, a perfect beginner's ride. Though don't be fooled, it's still challenging. So if your considering trying a dual sport, this is a good one to start on. make sure you at least have a seemingly legal looking plate on your dual sport bike. Gonna be a blast as it always is. There is also a Trials competition afterwards which is always fun to grab a couple cold ones and hike out into the woods and watch. The camping accomodations, bike swap meet, food and activities make this event a fun time. And it's really cheap admission. It's like $15 camping for the whole weekend, motorhomes welcome. check out the links above for more information. rock on! Husky to Win!
 
BSA Rally in Toronto, OHIO is this weekend (June 4th and 5th). Come on out and enjoy an easier dual sport, a vintage trials event along with road events and a huge british bike swap meet, camping, food, etc. This is a fun time, and is really cheap. Also, don't get too excited, but they haven't outlawed pit bikes yet, so you didn't hear it from me, but you can bring your pit machine if you want. See ya'll there. it's a 2 hour and 15 minute drive from strongsville, Ohio. not bad. leave at 6 am or so for the dual sport (Reliability Run).
 
Hey boys, it's 2012! Don't forget about the BSA Rally in Toronto, OH. It's not that far away, and hosts an easier vintage/modern Dual Sport called the Reliability Run. This is a great "first dual sport" for anyone considering trying out this sport. This one is usually between 80 and 100 miles, runs on Saturday of the rally. The BSA Ralley also hosts an AMA National Trials race afterwards (fun to watch) and has a great swap meet of old british bikes and stuff. Here is more info, I know their flyer hasn't change in years, they just change the date. This is a great rally! Good food, they give away a restored BSA, great events, close to home.

I will be there as well, looking for some Lucas reflector's for my guzzi. This is not only a great swap meet but you can purchase tickets to win a totally restored BSA.
 
Gearing up for the Reliability Run dual sport during the BSA Spring Classic in Toronto, OH on June 2nd & 3rd. this dual sport runs only around 70-80 miles and is I would call it a good entry level dual sport, very accommodating to lesser enduro riders and vintage bikes with, hark, short range suspension. Now there's a term you young bucks have no idea of what it means. Short range suspension was why we all wore kidney belts, in fact I still have mine. On saturday, after the duals sport, enjoy an AMA sanctioned Trials Race with many awesome pro riders in attendance. Always fun to tour the check points and watch these guys, then walk through the swap meet swearing that someday I'm going to buy a trials bike... Fun stuff, here's the flyer and it's only about 2 hours away from Cleveland.

just caught this thread,I've been posting about this event in the old guys and bombers section,it's a great time,good people,been going there for 17 years,going to try my hand at the reliability run on my 72 triumph 250 "trail blazer" although the smart move would be my DRZ400S but nobody ever said I was smart
 
My BSA just left my house as a "loaner" looks like I'll be riding my Ascot down instead. Probably better anyhow in case of rain it will still run fine where the BSA has the famous "Lucas" electrical system that likes to shut down on foggy mornings.
I'm going to try and go Sat then hit the MX race in St.Clairsville on Sun.

Heading out to the BSA Rally this weekend. Don't forget, in addition to the dual sport run on saturday morning, there is also an AMA sanctioned Trials Race beginning at 1PM on Saturday. Toronto, Ohio is about 2.5 hours from Cleveland. Come on out and enjoy a good time. It is activities, swap meet, food, videos shown in the pavilion (exciting videos like rebuilding a tranny on a 71 Triumph Bonneville), Camping, and a bike giveaway. This is a really good time and a jewel of motorcycle activity worthy of support in our great state.

Well it's the Summer Classic, BSA Rally, begins today and runs through Sunday. A handful of us will be riding the Reliability Run, its a beginners level dual sport. Come on out and test your skills. Also, camping is NOW free and dogs ARE allowed. How exciting. As always, they will be raffling off a restored BSA. Only $5 a ticket. It's also a great opportunity to catch an AMA sanctioned trials race, plus a wonderful swap meet. I'm going, ridin' the Husky, not taking the Guzzi this time and gonna hang around for the trials. Good for you Smitty. Yes, that is a fun event. I took a third cause my buddy was hittin' on the time keeper, their laughing it all up, then she saunters over and looks at her watch as it clicked 1:08. I was like it was 1:07, I've been here for atleast 30 seconds!!! Nope, 1:08, missed second by that one minute. argh!!!! Oh well, what are you gonna do? Anyway, a new bike for the Riz! I just picked up a 1975 Yamaha TY250 Trials Bike. I'll be ridin' that vintage trials at the BSA rally next year, heck I may even compete in the dual sport on this bike, it's an awesome machine. It's got first and second trials gears, then 3rd and 4th road gears. It's a cool bike, I've never had so much fun just puttin' around the woods and creek in my backyard.

Stay tuned to these dual sport forum pages. we got two really good AMA Husky sponsored Dual Sports coming up, plus a couple Enduro's. For sure, Team Riz will be at the Nutcracker 200, which is only a 100 this year (dual sport) and a 100 mile adventure ride. That's on September 22nd. Then the final dual sport, a great, great one, is the Baby Burr in October. Here's some links:

Time to refresh this page. The Ohio Valley BSA Club redid their webpage. they now have a forum among other things. In 2013, look for two events like in year's past. They both include a fairly easy, ridable dual sport called the Reliability Run in the morning on Saturday. Also an adventure ride at the same time. then in the afternoon is trials, and vintage trials.

I love the reliability run. It's totally laid back, only like $10 to enter and you get some pretty fun and scenic trails, usually around 80 miles or so. Here is a video they posted on their new website. This is a great trail that I enjoy riding every year. You can really open it up on this trail.

So I like this for anyone thinking about a dual sport, and not sure what to expect. This is a great beginner's event I think. No offense to the BSA club, which I am a member of too. Many, or most will be on vintage machines. Some on new bikes, there is a modern bike class, and they give trophies for finishing in the top spots. They don't tell you the distance so you have to try and gauge average 24 mph for how ever many miles you think your going and come in closest to the perfect time (No. of miles / ave. 24 mph.) You need a plate, or some semblance of a plate, ON THE BIKE! The towns are pretty BSA Rally friendly, they've been running this event for a million years. That creek trail in the video is usually at the end, man you just fly. blasting those puddles and creek crossings in fifth gear, literally just flying. And the whole trail follows the river speckled with a few cabins and four-wheeler camp sites.
