RIP Smokin' Joe Frazier

I was only 5 years old in March of 1971 for the Frazier/Ali fight, but you couldn't escape all of the media attention and hype over this event.

I still recall my parents and my dads buddy at the house glued to the TV watching. When everybody only had three channels, sporting events like this got a lot of attention and coverage.

Even non boxing fans were watching it, more to see Ali get knocked on his butt and to shut him up.

It's funny how vivid and colorful memories like this just sort of stick in your brain and never go away. ( 40 years later).
