Official Press Release – Hope on the Horizon – Malvern & OIR
Well folks, I have been given liberty on behalf of the motocross family to break the official news of a change in the tides for our local motocross community. This is good news and involves Malvern & OIR.
Some History!
Malvern Racing
Jason Rogers took the reins of this historical local motocross facility that is suited for the likes of every individual on 2,3, or 4 wheels to be given the opportunity to race in a family amateur atmosphere. Malvern has been around a long time and is one of the blooming tracks in NE Ohio. Jason has hit the ground running with this one…giving up a self-made business to take an already solid race-track to new levels. In a short time, 1 season to be exact, the facility looks better, the track has never been better with its track surface taking new form, the operation becoming smoother with each passing event with structure and consistency, more flaggers for rider safety, and a more ambitious promotional stampede while also giving back to the riders.
OIR
A lot can be said here! We are well aware of the history of OIR from days of old to most recent, from days of glory to days of sorrow and disappointment. Chris Mosher (who I consider a dear friend, and am thankful for people who have an attitude like he does, is the son of the original OIR founder – Bob Mosher) has lead the 2011/12 OIR season. We are well aware of the failure that OIR has become; a track once lifted so high, but now looked upon with disdain and maybe even anger. I have nothing but respect for Chris Mosher and his heart towards the motocross community. He took a beating from the last event this summer at the OIR pro day, rightfully so in ways, but we were unreasonably brutal in ways as well, which was wrong. Chris is still pressing forward like all of us should. What did Rocky say? “It’s not about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”
Hope on the Horizon
Chris Mosher is humbly stepping down as Promoter/Operator of OIR, realizing he can’t provide what the track needs in order for OIR to continue in honor. Chris sorely desires for OIR to continue in its long heritage of honor. All events for the 2012 OIR season are cancelled.
Jason Rogers has entered into a 3 year contractual lease agreement with Chris Mosher to promote and operate OIR starting in the 2013 Motocross Season along with Malvern Racing. About 5 races will be scheduled for OIR next year, CRA or not. All efforts are being made for OIR to be CRA; time will tell.
Jason, to say the least, will be busy in the upcoming off-season to pull all this together with the help of his dedicated family and crew. I would expect nothing less than the same heart and effort that is put into Malvern will be put into OIR for 2013.
The main goal for Malvern during the 2013 season, along with what has already been happening is to drastically improve lighting for night events.
The main goal for OIR during the 2013 season is to restore OIR back to honor.
A piece of advice – BE THANKFUL & PATIENT!!! Good things are happening. People do care. On our worst days in America, we still have it very good.
