The all racing complete in the old D-11, it is time to look at the facts and hopefully the promoters of those tracks use this when planning for 2015.

Dirt Country = 876 entries = 219 per
DMC = 766 entries = 191.5 per

250 A – 19 entries (DMC-8, COCR and DC 5 each, TC-1) = 1.187 per race. 12 different riders with an average of 1.583 races per rider.

So looking at the numbers it is plain to see some classes need to be eliminated or at least restructured. So if you combine ALL the "A" classes into 1, Combine the 14 to 24 and the 25+ into a 14+ class and divide the 65's into jr. and sr. you are left with 21 classes.
The numbers would also justify combining the 2 "B" classes into one which would leave us with 20 classes.
The 80 extra class must be run with the Supermini. So now you have 19 gate drops per moto. Times 12 min moto's = 456 minuets + 30 min intermission is 486 / 60 min = 8 hours and 6 min.
Start racing at 10 and everyone is finished by 6:15

For sure looks like a classic case of the squeaky wheel got the grease. All the "adults" complaining about getting their own class and the promoters gave in and then the riders DID NOT show up.

Growth appears to be nonexistent from 162.176 per race in 2012 to 163.5 in 2014. That is slightly less then 1% growth.

With all the facts in front of you, it looks to me like something needs to change if we want to grow the sport in the area. With the rumors (at least one confirmed) of new tracks joining in and possible dead weight dropping off, I would expect to see some change for next year. But will the change of venue being the only difference can we really expect much improvement?

This is really interesting...that's some good work and maybe something that can help give direction to balanced running orders on race day; which results in time well spent.

Even with the large number classes there were many races I was out of there by 3pm or not long after...Of course, they combined a lot of the classes into one gate drop.

Are you able to run comparison, say to 2007? Results are HERE. By just glancing at a few, the turnouts were much better back, but still not as good as back in the early Buckeye Series days where we had 500 - 600 riders at every round. And what is the reason for the lower turnouts? Economy, track prep, track personnel or lack of promotion? My guess is, it's a combination of things. We see no promotion what so ever from any of the tracks. Did people even realize that 5 of the races paid contingency? Then we have track prep..which is basically non-existent anymore compared to years of the past. I've been racing D11 since 1994 and I don't ever recall being able to come off the track after practice and have my bike be basically as clean as when I unloaded it out of the back of my truck. Yeah, it's great for practice, but makes for a no lines, hard pack, fast, follow the leader racing and dust within the first few motos of the day. Soak the track starting days before race day...it should be muddy. Then we have a tracks that has ran off many racers due to attitudes and the way the riders are treated. And of course we have the economy as well....I know I had cut back on riding/racing due to increased costs/expenses.

It would be nice to get things back on track again in southern ohio. Chillitown is a perfect example of how things should be ran...great people, excellent promotion and excellent track prep. You put in the effort and you will be rewarded.
