Smith Road: Wednesday Sept 9th

Our Next practice will be Wednesday Sept 9th from 4-dusk. All Wednesday night practices are bikes only. Al 3 tracks will be open: beginner $15, intermediate $20, main track $25 (no 50cc bikes on main track). Weather permitting we will be running Wednesday nights until late fall. If we have to cancel Wednesday we will reschedule for the weekend if possible. Just a reminder the Labor Day Race was canceled.

Update 9:15am, Larry is starting prep, it is very dry so he’s putting the sprinklers on early to get a good soak in and avoid a dusty track this evening. The forecast is clear and we are looking forward to a nice fall practice. (9/9/20, 4-dusk, bikes only) We will run Wednesday’s as long as we can until we don’t have enough daylight to do evenings and then we will switch to the weekend (most likely Sunday 12-5 but that could change) . At this time all practices are bikes only.

Below is message from our safety officer John Blike and owner Larry Plas

We have been trying to make Smith Rd Raceway a safe and fun track. As our number of riders increase, so does the risk for injuries. The cutting of the course is becoming a big issue. We have put some new fencing to help. Please stay on the track that has been prepared for the day.
We are increasing our number of staff/safety people, and will be watching for riders cutting course. Any riders cutting course will be stopped and asked the reason for leaving the groomed track. The rider will get a warning if it’s not an emergency. If the rider is observed again, they will be asked to leave the the track without a refund.
Please help us keep the track safe, and let us know if you see anyone not complying to the safety regulations. Another big issue we have had with the increase of riders is the smaller bikes on the main track. Going forward the main track will be for full size bikes only (85cc and above). The back corner track, or beginner tracks, will be where all 50cc, 65cc and pitbikes will be directed. We don’t get enough of the smaller bikes to do sessions, so for now, we will be sticking to these rules. If we have a large group of smaller bikes interested in riding the main track we can look into that in the future (a minimum of 20 small riders will be needed for consideration of splits) Thanks,
John Blike & Larry Plas
