Best Smart Watch and Software/App combination to record lap times

Those that know me realize I could use a sundial or calendar to record lap times but I digress.

What Smart Watch and App combinations are best for recording lap times at a track and on some other longer trail/offroad loops. My old Garmin has finally died (Was only using a a fitness watch) and time to replace. Apple Watch with Litpro MX or MX Buddy?

I ride at Saddleback in Bedford, KY - very little cell service so GPS. Trying to avoid too much complexity and mounting devices dedicated to a bike.

Second question is has anyone used a drone with tracking capability?

Thanks

im working on an app for the apple watch, i had a nice one for my garmin and nothing existed simlar on the apple watch so im attempting to do it myself. im making pretty good progress with it but have taken a few weeks off. i should have it ready for some testing soon.

litpro works pretty well but just dont like the subscription model... used to use it when it was free and it was ok. you can use strava but its kind of complicated

i just want something basic, so im making it myself. i dont want any extra fluff and crap in the app to setup.

Have used a garmin 255 watch with LITPro that works very well if you don’t mind the subscription. LITPro has a list of devices on their site and allows you to compare advantages and disadvantage of each. The Apple Watch is less accurate than most garmins. Racebox also offers a device with a free app. They have the racebox micro which is very tiny and be mounted about anywhere but you have to provide power and isn’t water proof. I’m currently working on a waterproof enclosure for them and a handle bar switch to activate it along with a type c charging port with a lip battery that will last 3-5 days without a charge.
