Idk if this will get looked at or not… i ran the 11am session, i was in HVY B… grabbed a fat holeshot and by the time i reached the mx track i had over a 30 second gap. As I’m hitting the downhill double i see a lot of riders ahead of me, and i was very confused. I passed 2 guys before the finish and caught 2 more at the finish, and i yelled to the scorers “open class cut track somewhere”.. i pick off a few more riders in the woods and on the mx track and when approaching the bottom where the RR tracks are i caught up to 2 more guys. I’m yelling “B rider, B rider!” So he’d let me pass. When i thought i had an opening he looked over at me and swerved right into me knocking me off the trail into the trees. Hit a tree so hard i blew my tube out in the rear….

I just want to know how in the hell did open class get in front of all of B class when we took off 30 or more seconds ahead of them.. dude cost me my whole race for no reason at all, and on top of that i could’ve really injured myself or messed up my bike because the rider couldn’t handle getting his ego hurt. From first to DNF is wild.

I hear you, sorry to hear your account of things. Great that you weren't injured. The first lap was a mess with riders missing a turn to cut the course and I was told with some running the wrong way. I was in 3rd place for last row when I got lost on the first lap. The rest of my row caught up to me as I rode back out on the trail that finished with a dead end infield section. I lost sight of the first two guys from my row as we came onto the first MX track section. I didn't know the track and wasn't going to hit those blind jumps at any speed. I took it easy too on the fresh grass cut section after that to get back to the trail where I found some large hidden rut holes to catch a wheel. Right after that section a ribbon marker was stretched across the trail clearly showing me where my missed turn was by the time I came around for my "second" lap. And I decided that one would be my first and only complete lap there. Any real racing at 11:00 was over after the first lap fiasco. The rest was just a practice session and I had a place nearby to go practice so that's what I did. I knocked some COCR mud off my one little old Yamaha and enjoyed riding the other 125 too after some friends had worked some good lines into the track. I've been racing COCR since they moved to their current location from Colfax back in the 1970's. I always try to support the cause.

I am concerned about the MX track and the AHRMA vintage regional scheduled for 8/23 and 8/24. I had a chance to check out the jumps Sunday and they are not at all conducive to old guys like me running the vintage bikes. Or me on a modern bike for that matter. Lol Some real accommodations will need to be made to race vintage with the current COCR layout.

There were definitely some issues with the course on the first few laps of that moto. Thanks for letting us know about them guys. It's hard to cover the whole track with the few volunteers that were working, so they made the corrections as quickly as possible.

Mark, unless people speak up, I can only assume that COCR will run the same track as the Vintage races that are held each year. I will inquire about it though, and hopefully get some changes made.
