Who’s all going to Chilitown this weekend for the qualifier? Gonna head down Sunday and try to qualify in 30+. Haven’t ridden there since 2021, but track looks the same almost. Just gonna wing it off of 3 laps of practice and hope for the best. I’m usually a good starter, so if i can rip a holeshot i think i can lock in on top 9.

I’ll be there Sunday for collegeboy and pro sport. Track is the same since they redid it a few years ago hasn’t changed at all. When I went to IL this weekend I did the same thing show up ride three laps of practice with so many damn people ended up jumping the biggest jumps first lap of the moto cause so many people were in front of me in practice

Thats exactly what i had to do at sunset but only 2 laps of practice lol. Its kinda bullshit because each day is supposed to be its own individual race day. At these areas, alota guys who race Sunday only are not coming for a Friday practice.

It’s cause all the dudes who ride Sunday only have real jobs. I’m not taking off for regional practice either I’ll go with my 3 laps of practice. I do feel there is some sort of skill to being able to learn a track fast. I remember when I was younger I never really practiced just straight weekend warrior and raced so it was go out and learn the track in 3 laps every weekend

Oh i know. Im just saying because each day is its own individual race day, they should be doing 4 laps of practice. Not having guys taking chances huckin 100 footers on the first lap lol

i was gonna take off Friday to go practice but it ain’t that deep. If i qualify for regionals, I’ll go practice that Friday and take off work. Or maybe ill just run the 3 laps of practice in the AM, its redbud, ive been there a few times. How is their prep for regionals? Am i going to need a mx14, or will i be okay with the starcross 6

I stick with 34 at Red Bud. Im anti sand tire.

Itll be a mud hole for practice and there will be land mines around the entire track by noon and they'll do everything they can to not touch it all day.

I agree with him on this one I’ve ran both mx 14 and mx 34 and by far the 34 is so much better. The track once it get beat in the 14 is too much and has zero grip on the edges which I hate it’s super unpredictable. Track gets insanely rough way rougher than the national. Chuck holes and ruts everywhere. All I gotta say is once you commit to a rut your stuck you ain’t moving especially in the bottom corners before the table those s corners you’ll be in a rut from the straight away all the way through those two corners gets gnarly

You really should stick with a Bridgestone.....

I've used basically every tire brand you can think of over the years, well maybe not Skat-Trak LOL. Bridgestones work awesome and everyone used them in late 90's/early 00's when they sponsored a lot of factory teams. Now that Dunlop sponsor all the teams people forgot about Stones.

My goto race tires are Stones of various tread patterns. My goto practice tires to burn out in Ohio clay are Tusk 45s/35s -- they work surprisingly well and the 45 hard pack tire is actually really good in Ohio. Not as good as a Bridgestone X40 hard pack, but like 1/2 of the price!

Where is Stones? Been looking for him for years. MXMestiso is somewhere

Well you technically said the same thing there LOL. A hard pack tire is made of soft compound......

But if you ride on nice loamy tracks, sure you want intermediate-soft terrain tires. Come ride some northern blue groove with a hard terrain tire and you'll be amazed and how well they hook up!

The real, correct answer is -- you want to use the correct tires on the type of dirt/terrain you ride on! I have multiple wheel sets and keep different tire types on them.

Track got super gnarly today! Was able to learn the track in the 3 laps in practice which was great. I towed in behind a faster rider over the triple along the road, everything else i was able to get the first lap out. Not a bad day, took 5th overall in 30+ with finishes of 6-4. Saw Matthew out there, he looked good, has good form and gels with the bike. Looking forward to bcliff next weekend, just gonna race 30+, the competition is good

Ctown was super good all weekend track was sick all day got gnarly but very safe. Rode pretty good had a hard time passing but feel my speed and intensity is there just need to get ready for regionals had a blast though riding my dirtbike and if I’m having fun that’s all that matters. I didn’t get to watch many motos due to being a one man show all weekend but by far the best ran ctown race all motos done by 2:30 I washed and got home by 4:30 can’t beat that

It's MX Sports. As long as you buy a qualifier Sheet, it does not matter where you finish. Get 15th send it into the reginal with money and you're racing the regional too. They just want your money!!

While "mostly" true, I've actually witnessed with my own eyes people getting turned away and refunded at a Regional for not having a high enough Alt spot from the Area.

It all depends on how many people register. They used to cap them at 64 total Regional entries per class, now they upped it to 72 to collect more money.

Wow. I did not know MX Sports raised it from 64 to 72. I am saying not many would be turned away at 72.

I've always argued that the regional should be qualified for. The top 42 make it, with a couple alternates in case someone does not make the gate. But you should have decently long motos at the regional, and you absolutely should not have to qualify and run LCQs at a regional. Let's be honest, no one is making it that has to ride an LCQ.

This proves my point it's a money grab for MX Sports.

If you read the MXSports rules they actually define how long the regional motos are to be, weather permitting.

Not sure if tracks really abide by that or not.
