Pitracer life

A lot of us have been on this page for a very long time. Does not seem like a lot of new blood coming in. Is it because it's not FB or Instagram?

Look at your profile and chime in how long you've been a Pitracer member.

Me, November 3, 2001. 35,332 messages. I know many of us have 25 plus years.

There was a time when they switched platforms and when that switched, all the OGs show nov 3 01. I was on before then im pretty sure.. 22k..

Been on the site since 2002. Racing at scenic was what led me to pitracer. Being from d11 area i had no idea this site existed until we raced d12 one weekend with Tyler bowers. Found out d12 was the district to race and d11 was dead around that time.

Well I've been here a while......

What really did this site in was when the tracks went from loving it to hating it. At one point tracks were telling me they would PAY me to keep this site open when I was thinking of closing it.
But the ease of social media, and the ability to control their own content and censor as they desired caused them to slowly move away from here.

Brian Gonser encouraged me to join PR in late 2006.
He spoke of this new track east of Newark called Briarcliff,
owned by a guy named Jeremy. Everyone's going there!

I was coming back to motocross following a 20yr break
and had purchased a 2004 YZ450F from him at Yamaha of Columbus.

From memory, it just seemed that PR was THE site for moto info in Ohio.
I do wish it could become that place again, but with all the other social
media sites, who knows? Vet261 and I were talking
about how lucky some tracks are to get any turnout based on how
confusing their social media posts are...

race updates and practice forum I checked all the time in high school.

The beginning of the week we’re always having threads about how the race went on Sunday and by Wednesday or Thursday we already started the thread on who’s going to the next race next Sunday.

The “bored in school” threads were awesome. Safe by any standard today. You’d have to be in a computer lab to actually participate. We didn’t have iPhones.

Mine says 2004 but could’ve swore it was earlier than that. Endless hours spent in the computer lab on pitracer and the bored in school thread. Met a lot of great people through this site.

mshafer62, . . . If memory serves me correct, that would have been when Yamaha of Columbus was on "the old" State Rte 161 near New Albany.
My profile says Aug 2007, but pretty sure it was earlier than that.

At the time I was looking and scratching for any info I could find where me and the boy could ride. Honda Hills was close to closing up, and some guys here in Newark put together a small riding track at Dry Creek, and I got to asking how all you guys are getting info/communication on places like this when they come up? Guy told me to check out the website called "Pitracer".

I went home and looked it up. Paid my $10 or $12, whatever it was and joined. To me it was worth every penny. I had my District 11 membership but knew there had to be better local community info than that. If you weren't following Pitracer, you were simply out of the communication loop.
