Snakes on the mx track

While riding at Sandusky Valley Riders 7-28-26, I jumped OVER a large snake in the track...I went back and it appeared to be a "blue racer". Quite large...I'm guessing 4 or 5 feet! It continued across the jump and slowly moved off. One of the biggest snakes I've seen recently (in the wild). What's the strangest "critter" you've had to deal with at the mx track?

I've never seen a snake that big in Ohio, that's pretty wild!

I was riding at Croom in Florida once in the trails, and we stopped for a minute to take a break.
Near where we stopped there was a web in a tree with one of those huge banana spiders in it. I was near passing out seeing that and then was freaked out the whole rest of the time riding.

Pit, more than likely the spider you saw was a golden orb weaver, they’re commonly mistaken for banana spiders, and they’re no hard to humans. I have one right now in my garden.

I was racing the sprint enduro at Honda hills and there was a 6’ king snake that had gotten ran over and was hurt. I stopped and moved it off the trail into the thicket. The snake probably died but at least he wasn’t getting ran over again

I see more wildlife today of all kinds where I go, except for snakes.

I survived a kamikaze goose attack years ago while riding my YZ on a driveway leaving a MX track. Those birds are big and getting hit gets your attention. Fortunately I ducked and was wearing all my JT gear. I had a great blue heron fly into the front of my Jeep truck about a quarter mile from that track back then too. The brush guard was a bird guard that day. Birds scare me way more than snakes!

My daughter once found a monarch butterfly on the track. It was already dead but 100% intact. She took it home and named it Vicky. We still have it in a case in her room.
