2026 LL Regionals

Well my foray back to LL regionals is complete. It was fun, I did ok I guess finish wise and came out healthy. Would have liked to have done better but mistakes cost me.

As we've all said, Lincoln was just inexcusable on Saturday. They obviously got a lot of flack for it because then on Sunday they went around and touched up the track (of course while I'm sitting on the gate for 45+ moto3 in the sun for 20 minutes while they soak it with water). It's easy to sit back and say "motocross is for MEN and that's a MAN'S track!" and all that crap, but it was dangerous and totally unsafe the way they left it and then just kept watering it and making it slick. Muddy Creek did so much better of a job keeping the track safe and raceable for their Regional.

The one moto, we go off the start and start going up the rollers, Davey Jones is literally directly next to me on the left....some dude in front of us cartwheels diagonally across right in front of us! Davey veers into me to avoid him, no idea how he missed him, and I pinned it and shot directly off the the track to the right. Crazy stuff for sure.

Crashes held me back at Lincoln. First 50 moto of the weekend for me I was running in 10th and lost 3 spots by falling. One of the 45+ motos I fell over about 10 feet from the transponder line and got passed by less than a tenth of a second. Another moto I fell at the bottom of the Bomber downhill and was stuck under my bike. Of course there are no track workers down there and I had to struggle while pinned on my stomach face down in the ruts and finally freed myself, but lost a bunch of spots and about 25 seconds. I still ended 13th o/a in 50+ with a ton of mistakes so I guess that's ok.

It's interesting to hear Matthew say that about his forks. I was bottoming my forks so bad there and there was nothing I could do about it. I had everything cranked in, and it got so bad I'm starting to wonder if something actually broke inside my fork, like maybe my SFF spring broke or something. I'm going to disassemble them and make sure they are ok. It was a confidence killer for sure, I'm actually hoping something is broken that's how bad they got.

Fun times overall and good to see everyone again at the races!

Man it sucks not having a camper anymore! But we are making due.....we originally sold the camper planning to buy a new one in retirement, but I'm already finding myself looking around at them!

Thanks Willy Browning for the pic!

My daughter said your in attack position.
Does anyone know who that dipshit (Carlisle) is ?
No but I like him. lol

For anyone keeping notes, I tore my forks down and nothing is broken. I do believe however that my spring preload locknut loosened up which allowed a little slop in the spring and not proper preload. I also spoke with Race Tech and I'm going to slightly stiffen up slow speed compression valving.....

Obviously I wasn't at Lincoln trail but I've yet to find a pic or video that shows it was worse than Ironman last year. Or LL in places for that matter. I talked to a couple people who were there and said it wasn't as bad as you guys make it out to be. When you're in the 40+ and up I think you need to remember how old you really are. Matthew just has too much of his Dad in him lol. Austin said it looked fun, he loved Ironman and LL last year though. Last year the area qualifiers were something you'd enjoy but way too easy. Regionals should be as tough as LL, thats what you're all racing for. Austin did far better at Ironman than at the area qualifiers. They were smooth, fast and easy. Even Red Bud was the smoothest id ever seen it. Ironman was bombed out, super deep ruts and rough af. Put in the rough and ruts and the riders who are good come alive. Its all technique then, its slower and safer. LL would be a nightmare for you guys, why spend all the time and money to go to a track you will completely hate??

Guys way faster than me, that are Lorettas regulars, told me red bud and Lincoln were the knarliest they'd ever seen them. Wasnt just me "bitchin", im just the only one who still communicates on here about it lol. The DHDS's scared off most people from sharing opinions. Mainly Lincoln fri and sat. Sunday was rough but not shitty. There is a difference. Ive never once said I didnt care for rough rutty tracks. Infact I actually ride them better than wfo stuff. I love a good rough track with peg draggers in corners. What I dont care for is useless slots in the slotcar track areas. These areas are formed by over discing a man altered surface (mainly mulch, but red Bud is sand) and applying too much water. When its a foot deep of wet mulch, there are no good ruts. Pro nationals have good deep ruts, not zig zaggin n hooked goon ruts. I watched AP use the insideish line at highpoint at the bottom of the hill before the finish. Thing was deep as hell and a perfect example of a good rut. I noticed it on a drone shot. Im looking forward to the nightmare at LL if I make the roster from an alternate spot. Short motos at the regional were another downfall. I missed the glory days of 15 minutes+ at vet regionals. Lol

If your talking second moto that line was eating him up. He was losing ground there everytime. I was thinking to myself after seeing that how beneficial an spotter could be on a helmet intercom.

I cant remember if it was first or second moto but the time i noticed it he nailed it. Lol

The worst section to me on tv was the far corner in the pro section after the one step up (not the quad one). Right after where lala crashed. Those were super deep.

Youre FB post was litterally Ferrandis complaining about High Point. How can you use High Point as an example of good stuff?

And sharing my opinions scares off people sharing thiers? Wow...thats a good one. Carlisle and previously Knox get much more direct and much harsher tones regarding other people's opinions.I simply share my opinion and/or say what lots of people think but wont say. Kind of a big difference. I really dont mind if you didn't like the track, I just think its funny how LL is that bad and you're spending time and money hoping to go there for nothing more than saying you made it there.
LL is a massive money grab for nothing. What i learned is you only go there for 2 reasons. 1. Youre litterally a top 10 pro national level rider in the making. 2. To say you made it there. We fell into #2. C class isnt a fame class but as everyone knows C class at LL is no joke. Austin went from mid pack Mini Os kid to easily qualifying at Ironman. His pace was top 5 LL in his class. Didn't do well at the ranch with 2 mechanicals and 5 horrendous starts. But im glad we went because the effort and determination it took him to become the rider he did in 8 months. A good life lesson. An extremely costly one but worth it. If he wants to try in B class again we will but I certainly wont be buying 4 bikes and doing 112 gate drops in 7 months ever again. Not worth it. But he never once complained about what surface it was, the mud, the bumps or ruts. The only time he ever complained was at Red Bud last year because it was a freeway with hardly a rut to be found. He had fun and learned to ride everything and we shared half a year traveling together doing what we both love.

Or maybe 3 reasons for the old guys

I gotta say Ironman and redbud was like a freeway. Saturday at Lincoln was a slot car square edged national. To me this year redbud was actually very racey. Still rough obviously but not as bad as the past. Lincoln however it was all self inflicted and obviously they got bitched at cause they were out there fixing it on Sunday. Thing is I’ve rode Lincoln when it gnarly and rutted but was still raceable. Saturday for the regional it was slot car ruts and squared edged but I didn’t care about the breaking bumps or square edged I cared about how it was so deep and rutted and everyone rides way over there ability it ruined my race when I was inside the top 10. But obviously got caught up behind people going down no joke every lap and you can’t get out from the ruts there down in. And you can say don’t follow. Well I wasn’t following them all the ruts came to a main rut in the ending so really it just wasn’t raceable 100 percent start based. Pretty much where you started you finished. Lincoln trail is a sick track with great layout they didn’t need to make it shitty. Come to Sunday it’s raceable and even though it was rough you could pass. To me I think they learned there lesson on that one and redbud I think has really figured it out as well I guess for Lincoln we were the trail run on Saturday

What DF said was about thunder valley. Not high point.

Im #4. Because I want to go watch and have a family moto vacation at the place my wife and kid have heard everyone talk about forever. Id much rather blow the money there than at a corrupt Disney resort. Lol. Again, im not afraid to race a rough track, so dont twist it into me wanting a highway or something. If I get to ride there, ill give it my best effort and deal with what the other 41 guys in my class will be dealing with. Ill even wave to you on racer tv (which, more on that in a sec) when sipes laps me lol.

Rumor has it, no more free racer tv. Heard we'll have to buy the Flo Motorsports app to watch the amateur nats and gncc races now.

I too am saying what lots of people think but dont post, so our posts are similar in that regard.
