Moto news for 2015?

Well it sounds good in theory, but I'm not sure I want to be the guinea pig to try it on a 600+ entry event, or even 300+. And what advantage does the RFID system give us? Does it speed up the program? I don't think it does anything but add something our list of worries.

Will it stop the pit riding? If so, we are in!

It has better flow?

Again, late sign-ups or people wanting to change, add or back out of a class really screws things up after the race order has been set up in the computer. You need to close sign-up at least a half hour before the first race starts.

This is a problem now with conventional scoring; people wanting to change stuff. Plus I think adding a half an hour to the program is a no go. This is going to opposite way of where we want to be.

I have mentioned this system before, and I think it would be an awesome addition to practice, but it seems like it adds some chaos to the race day. Plus I'm unsure about investing in a system that might be obsolete in ten years, because mylaps might have infiltrated every nook and cranny of the mx universe by then.

This agreement has been finalized. The MYLAPS offices and the AMA offices are currently working out the details on how AMA members can receive their discounts.

One of the benefits of being a AMA member or a chartered facility:
  • MYLAPS provides a 20 percent discount off MSRP or any current sales price on web-orders or orders coordinated by the AMA for all Motorized Products to AMA members.
  • MYLAPS also provides an AMA exclusive special Starter Timing System package to AMA organizers based on the Starter Timing System promotion. This package shall meet or exceed discount points of 30 percent for the decoder and 25 percent for additional equipment including transponders.
  • On a case-by-case basis and after coordination with the AMA, MYLAPS may provide an additional discount to AMA organizers classified as a group of buyers, large quantity purchaser or a significant AMA partner.
  • Lastly, MYLAPS will provide AMA organizers Trackside software at no cost and upgrade existing AMA organizers to the latest version at no cost.
More information to come...

My opinion transponders are the future of off-road racing, but probably not next year or 5 years after that at the grassroots level. I would say sooner then later at the Area Qualifier level.

So now the AMA is getting tracks and organizers discounts on technology that WILL improve our sport... WOW. I am impressed.
This Alex guy is really starting to cut into my list of complaints... Fear not, I have PLENTY more. :D

Thanks for the update Alex. Good job AMA (I thru up in my mouth a little when I said that)

Wow nice job Alex. Thanks for keeping us informed also and putting a more personal touch on AMA news.

I already own a MyLaps transponder, so bring it on!

Another 2 race weekends have passed and no one heard anything?
All racing is done for the year so the news should be flowing like crazy by now.

COME ON... its ok, you can tell me... I will not tell anyone...

Heard New Vienna was thinking OMA. They did a decent job with the three races, but I think it might be a little premature for them to go OMA. Not sure they are ready to handle a really large crowd yet.

New Vienna is a candidate. We are also looking at 1–2 more. Now these new tracks aren't jumping right in hosting Battle Races. There's more to it than just flipping the switch and running those. I will say this, we are looking for tracks that are run by promoters. Given that, I don't think we are talking about 600+ here in the first year. I'm not super worried about handling a big crowd yet. Rome wasn't built in a day or a season.

so much for not scheduling Summit the same weekend for AX....... Bet that pro turnout is the worst since that weekend is opening round in CINCINNATI!!!!!!

Anyone know when the 2015 schedules are going to be released? The old D-11 would have them set after the first weekend in December right after the meeting. The new D-11 never announces anything now so who knows when it comes out. What about OMA and all the LL Qualifies and crap?

"Lastly, MYLAPS will provide AMA organizers Trackside software at no cost and upgrade existing AMA organizers to the latest version at no cost." I can't find anything to complain about after I read that. That's a good provision.
