Where is PitRacer going?

The riding tips are cool that Gary Semics post. Growing up, I would stand on the fence line and watch him ride and always thought it was cool he was from my state. Again the issue is that it is not "about" the young guys. Contact some of the other big names from the area and shame them into posting tips as well. Focus on the youth riders. Who do they stand on the fence and watch?
Keep Gary for us old dudes. :)

Is there a way to make a Pitracer post automatically post to Facebook,Twitter,Instagram so some of the track owners could do just 1 post here on PR and have it show up at all the other social media sites?

I set this up for BJ @ Beans and it worked ok. He would post a twitter post from his phone on the dozer and it would automatically feed to his FB page, his website, and it would create a thread in our open practice forum. The only problem with this was he still had to check all places for responses. The other problem is FB changes its code every other second of the day breaking everything. I do see a benefit to this Greg. Maybe I'll play around with this some more.

As far as the PR app we basically have one now. This website was optimized top to bottom (responsive design) to work on all mobile devices. There's no app to download just point your device browser (Safari) to our website and you'll get a slimmed down version. The only thing I wish we could tap in to better would be the camera. Maybe we do need an iOS and Android app for this. Any volunteers?

This shouldn't be that hard to do, basically just a hyperlink

One of the main reasons I use FB is to reach out to potential new riders, we cant grow the sport by just marketing to the existing client base (pitracer). AND, if you want to get some spectators to your events, you cannot limit yourself in terms of marketing. If we completely close off our minds and keep a narrow focus, we may miss good opportunities to create good things in life. Write that %#$@^ down, i coined it as i typed. Seriously, i did. Ok I will deflate and move on now.

Nobody is saying dont use FB or other avenues. But remember your huge FB number doesnt mean squat about RIDERS reached. You are reaching every friend of a Boner regardless if they give a s**t about dirt bikes and lawn mowers or not. Does it help? Absolutely, but I dont think it has the potetial to affect your bottom line as much as a dedicated site such as PR. As people have stated above, this is where you find new tracks to ride at that you may not have heard about before, this is a one stop place for current conditions and updates for MANY tracks. Facebook doesnt offer that accessability to so many tracks under one forum heading.

You didnt stamp anything except your lower back like a 17 year old hussy tramp! And your wife claims you are always deflated!

Coin that one bitch

Hershey really needs to go riding....Boner Bashing all over this website in as many contexts as possible!

Here is another head scratcher.. It is 2015 and I can not believe the number of tracks that either don't have or almost never update their website... They must be updating their Myspace page.
Another favorite, No address to the track... They will put "8 miles west of Nowhere, Indiana. Turn right at the cigar Indian then left 3 clicks past the LZ"... People, not everyone has been to your track, how about an address that people can put in a GPS... Good Lord.

THAT may be the biggest factor in why owners and promoters don't use this site... Luddite

Ummm, bro I have to agree with you (sorta). Unfortunately most track websites do suck, but that's the biggest factor why promoters and riders SHOULD use this site.

I built the track guide because yes about 90% of track websites suck really bad. 40% don't have an address or photo. I've showed up to new tracks and it's just a mailbox which pisses a moto guy off to no end. So if you look closely about half our tracks have exact GPS coordinates (30.3377333, -81.900916)

... because I manually went to Google Maps and looked at the terrain and yes there's a motocross track at that exact spot.

Yes it took about 200 hours and there's another 200 hours of work to do. That's why it's open source. There's another 200 hours that went in to building the 2015 calendar this year. That's why people should use this site. Facebook cares about revenue. We care about motocross. Quote that Hershey!

There is a lot of bashing on this site. Both of tracks, promoters and people, but that's life. I think more would chime in, but it is cliquish on here, just like other forums of social media. I know some of my buds from PA read the posts anonymously all the time, but don't dare set up an account.

I've found some to be cliquish, but really don't care. I try to spread the word, but in reality, I am just an outsider here. The promoters in my area feel the same Chuck, so they don't really put any effort into your site.

You just nailed it. It is a clique on here. We are outsiders as well and do not dare speak up on most topics. There are about 6-10 regulars that comment on every post. I personally know that don't mean any harm by any comments. But to others they probably do not know how to take them.

We will be using the track guide a lot this year. Got to hit some new locations
I will also be writing a review after each visit focusing purely on facts and not attacking anyone. BUT. If it sucks, I will not mix words

Cliquish ? I don't see it. Two years ago before I started posting on here I didn't know anyone on here. Start posting and create conversations and see the friendships that develop. We all have this great sport in common, why feel like an outsider?
This is my number source for entertainment. The more people participate the better it is. Don't be the silent type. Stand up and tell us how you feel

My question is more along the lines of... Pit racer although informative and fun is a business right? Someone pays the bills so what is the business plan and desired ROI?
More members or unique visitors will allow for ad sales revenue correct? If true then Pit racer needs to be the hub that originates here and branches out to Facebook and Instagram. More people I know use instagram a lot lately and it lends itself well to mx as its picture and video friendly. Add forums for pictures and videos that can be uploaded easily from smartphones at the track... I like the idea of local pros or mechanics giving tips... What about discount or company promotions exclusive for registered members funded by the vendor footing the offer ... I could go on but most people attention gets lost after 100 words or more lol

I've already commented more on this post than I have in 3 years. I prefer to just sitback watch and learn. I hope to see everyone at a track soon!!

Exactly my point! So the real question for this particular part of PR is how do we get more riders/racers to learn about this site and use it??? That is the question that has been unanswered.

Like DD I tell everyone I meet that rides about the site, it is amazing to me how many people in our area that have NEVER heard of it ! I think PR should target bike shops and tracks with simple marketing ploys. Posters, banners, stickers and flyers. Be sure to get a link on every track web site and FB page also. Try to get tracks to post practice times and schedules on here more.

An idea I had was to have a track section in the forum. Each track could have a specific forum where people post threads only related to that track. Help keep promoters like JO who feels/ has been accused of overtaking the main page a place of their own. Perhaps the same for CRA, MRA, OMA, AMA .... ect a place of their own also.

Enough of a pot stirrers ramblings
I do like your idea of segregated forums... but it is hard enough to keep the track guide up to date.. god forbid an entire forum for one track or series...... the search continues.. how do we convince the moto slobs that this site really satisfies their needs more than facebook, instagram, twitter, and myspace... because you only have to look in ONE place to find everything.. I think just with more effort to promote the actual features of the site and not just the site itself will be a huge help. Also, I know some are opposed to the idea of social media... but it can be very beneficial in luring people back to the site or providing the same information that can be found on the site for those who are too lazy to go check the forum if they are already "creepin" on their social media pages.

I am thinking a huge opportunity will be a pitracer instagram when the riding season comes around... Track owners will be urged to post pictures that can be shown on the PR instagram and riders that are at the track can tag PR in the posts as well. Pictures are worth a thousand words.... a thousand honest words for the most part... and I feel like when riders can see what they are missing out on or see their choices for a day, people will get more involved....

More like 10 words!!!!

See below, you are not an outsider here! Post and we will listen. Some will not agree and some will. That is the story of life. If you get a crowd that agrees with your every statement or idea then you are in Elysium!!!!

It is a clique on here, but join in! Like Knox said. Just post and have fun. Nobody likes me, Georgie, CK1 or Briarcliff. Guess what? We still post. You never have to wonder what is on our minds or what we think. It doesnt mean we are assholes, it just means we are honest. And I know for a fact that any one of us would give you the shirts off our backs to help any one out we can. Riding related or not.

If a track is getting bad feedback then take that as a compliment and use it as constructive criticism. People wouldnt talk if they didnt care about going back to the track. When they stop bitching is when you have a problem as a track owner.

Use this site like RT62, learn from the posts and improve. There isnt a track on the face of the earth that cant learn from its riders on ways to improve the experience. When you have deaf ears and stop listening you die.

Possibly another unanswered question is how can the site encourage more posts from more people so it isn't considered as "cliquey" .. Regardless of whether I agree or disagree with that statement there is a select audience that PR appeals to and I truly think with some effort that audience can grow..

And yes I also agree that Hershey is a sand nagger...

Ban topics about neck braces, bikes vs quads, classes, advancement, and former pros in LL 30+. Hershey is a nag, totally agree.
