Figured I'd start a new thread so we aren't replying to the one that says "No more..." lol.

I just pre-entered for the GTR round end of Feb!

Have a question; what do the "number brackets" mean? I don't need to change the actual number backgrounds on my bike right? This is just like for our helmet sticker or whatever correct?
+50B shows "number bracket" of 425 – 449

You don't have to change anything the first race . Just if u race the whole series thats what I got out of his conversation

We went to a place that was all types of off road once on the way home from Monster.
The moto tracks were good - not great.
BUT - the trails were like NO F'n Way - nasty!
I turned around so fast and headed back to the safety of Moto prep .....LOL

They assign numbers based on the class you race. Some guys get backgrounds (you only need it on the front) made an reserve a number for the series. You don't have to though. They will give you a number sticker to put on your front number plate. Its just backup and for staging purposes anyways. They score with transponders. Its also handy when you pull up to staging you can tell who is in what class or see what number they are up to so you know when you class is coming up. Hopefully this new promoter runs it the same way. It was pretty efficient. I rode 40+ and It would usually start somewhere around 11:30 and be all done for the day by 4:30. It moves pretty quick once it gets going.

For the tracks GTR is really sandy so it gets whooped out by the end. Its a tough one to start with coming out of winter but a lot of guys there are in the same situation. Smooth and try too keep you momentum up. Its tough though. You will get tons of turn practice. They usually don't have many places to get your bike wound up before you have to turn again. GTR is the most sandy of all of them. Then I would say the WV round has the hardest enduro loop. Its not hard to make it around its just hard to go fast on. Lots of off camber riding with tree roots. I cant stress enough how much it helps softening u your suspension up as much as possible. There will be hardly any jumps if any at all. if they do have them they are usually easy to downside. The soft suspension will make you like so much easier on everything else. Also tire pressure. get a setup where you can run low tire pressures. Its not as important at GTR but the rest of them its night and day difference in the damp slick hillsides and tree roots. You will ride across them like they are not even there. It took me a while to figure this stuff out but after suffering through a season on my moto setup I can tell you with out a doubt it makes a huge difference in how much you will enjoy it.

on the second lap it looks some guys go back to the grass rather than the loose silt.
The speed they have in the woods sections - flat out flying

In my short stint as a woods guy I learned 1 thing which might be more important than any advice you’ll receive.
The race name says it all.
example: Rock Hill 100 will be monster boulders on 100 foot cliffs.
Big River 50 means you will need to be a good swimmer because there are waist deep water crossings everywhere.
And my all time favorite are the Big Game Ranch this means animals will be jumping out of everywhere, deer, bears, hell even flying carp.
So with that said good luck and plan well

I have some GoPro footage from several of the rounds. Ill try and get them posted when I get to a better internet connection.

The good thing about sprint enduros is they don't want people to be bottlenecked anywhere on the course. It slows down their rotation. The courses are challenging is the regard of trying to go fast. Just getting around them is usually not that tough if your an average rider. The speed the pro guys carry through it all is unbelievable. You cant really appreciate it until you ride the same course they do and look at the times. I rode 40+A last year and the pros were on average 2 minutes faster per loop. Its crazy. To me its almost more impressive than moto. Kalib Russel seemed to be able to gain time at will. He would mess up a trat and be down 20 seconds or more then come right back and get it all back in one test.

Speaking of animals I almost hit a deer at the West Virginia round last year. Jumped right across in front of me in a fast wooded section. It felt like I could have reached and touched it. That got the heartrate up a little.

Had that experience locally at a COCR GP a few years ago. Thank you jeffro667 for the front brake on my 250. Saved me that day!

Here is couple pictures from GTR. This is before the racing started when I was walking the Enduro loop

The Enduro test reminds me of the cross country races I used to do at Gatorback in FLA. Although way more terrifying at the speed this dude is going!
