Haven't seen anything posted about signup yet. When will they announce signup for motocross and HS.

Thanks

so you're on the mend?
Yea, doing quite well.
I would say I'm performing at 90% of all my normal activities.
I hope to be on the gates at AHRMA event at Honda Hills next month before Vintage Days, but intend to ride very conservatively.

We should be done with Varsity Ball by end of next week, and then I have a lot of bike work to get done in a short time.
As bad as it all was, I honestly didn't expect to be on the race gate at all this year.

Going to enter later tonight. Is there any good hotels around? I'm doing it solo again from SC as my wife has to help out at ClubMX ( wish they would do better she says).

Is it madness like it was in 2021? I can't sleep in that atmosphere. Old age I guess.

I'm also looking for someone to pit with. Kinda hate doing these long hauls by myself but I'm gonna do it one more time and hopefully do well again like in 21.

Is anyone planning to have a vendor spot at Vintage days? I have a couple bikes and a few parts I need to sell.

Would be happy to help cover a proportional part of the spot fee.

Looking forward to Thursday. Can't race this year - ACL done at the end of April. Has anyone seen their email from the AMA with tickets? Also - what are the entry rules for Thursday? I didn't see anything saying we needed to be running hare scramble on Friday to get in early.

my old KX ?
That KX is one of my favorite bikes. You did such a good job on it.

I have a cheapo '75 MR175, a nice tank and some parts for MR175

I have bunch of Full Floater parts from various RM250s 1981-1984.

I am going to sell a pretty nice 84 yz250 - Parma Dave rebuilt it. I have an Ohlins shock that have not installed. It is not ready for Mid-Ohio this year.

Also a couple of 79 KX250s. Probably not ready for Mid-Ohio yet but pretty nice. I sold the stained 125 tank to a guy that had a cracked tank and found a much nicer tank. Have Nightmare racing plastics for both that I have not installed.

Retirement is just around the corner for me and hoping/planning on that freeing up some time.

I would do $1,800 for the YZ without the Ohilns. I bought the Ohlins from Steve Marpes and think I paid about $750 for it.

Have some new parts and plastics for the YZ. Put new tires on the rims a couple of years ago. Have a new pro-circuit pipe, and new plastic. It is sitting on a bike stand with the wheels and plastic off - welcome to come see it.

Heads Up!
Deadline for "pre-registration" for racing is tonight.

You can still register at the event the day of the races, but pre-registering is a time saver.

If Evo doesn't, you need that 84 YZ Ohlins shock or maybe the entire bike;).

Did you race at Honda Hill this weekend?

My plans have continued to fizzle - Honda Hills was on my list - so much family stuff. My mother-in-law's house was hit by a big tree in Houston, Texas during Beryl. It is unlivable and my wife is in Houston scrambling to find a cantankerous 85 year old a place to live. Kentucky is not an option - her statement not mine.

Still kicking myself for selling the KX. What are you asking for the 84 YZ250 ?
Link and a listing on Facebook Marketplace in Cleves, Ohio.

Send CASH offers or trade for other bikes and/or quads, may be interested in other things worst I can say is no. Super clean bike. The bike just got a whole new top end, cylinder was honed welded and replated by power seal usa, brand new piston and rings, have new water pump rebuild kit and impeller, brand new rear tire, new plastics, restyle front end, full pro circuit exhaust, mikuni tmx carburetor, newer air filter, cleaned power valve, newer bars/ new bar pad, new grips come with it, new brake rotor guard and new hand guards. Bike started 3rd kick after rebuild but leaks a little coolant so I bought a whole new gasket kit for the whole motor I just don’t feel like tearing it all down again and messing with it. I can send video of it running upon request also have a ton of extra parts for it.

On the 84-YZ, uh-yea, it crossed my mind. Would fit in nicely with all my other Yammy's. Just too many un-started and un-finished project bikes at my house now.
EVO needs to grab it up.

Yea, raced Honda Hills, both Saturday and Sunday. Was a blast!

out this year, hopefully next year i will have a vintage bike! i planned to sell my modern YZ 125 to pickup a KX project, and just haven't been able to convince myself to sell it lol.

I think I'm retiring the 82, Dan's 84 YZ would be the hot ticket for trying to beat wheeler next year. Honestly probably not the bike as much as the rider needs more seat time.

AMA Vintage Days is now behind us, and overall was a great weekend.

My older brother came up and hung with me for the day on Friday. He's been there several times, and always enjoys the event. Great bonding time for he and I.

When we are usually dashing for cover and collapsing canopies from incoming storms, this year was rain free, but we actually could of benefit from it. By midafternoon, the heat was becoming uncomfortable and dust heavy, especially if you were racing.

I raced 4 moto's Saturday, and then 4 moto's Sunday. I felt pretty good but had to keep it in mind that I was still on the mend from earlier injuries and surgery back in April. So, riding smart and conservative was the plan for the weekend.

The one interesting story that we come home with was that I did manage to put in 7 races without the first issue and was still feeling good and pain free. No bobbles, get-offs or wrecks, and really rode very well (for myself) I would say. That is until my final race on Sunday: Race 14, Senior 40+ Class, moto #2. ............... Moto-1 had 7 racers in my class, and we were a double gate drop with Masters 60+ class on 2nd gate drop. On moto #2 that afternoon is where it went bad.
Us 40+ riders came off the gate, (only 5 of us now). We got through the first couple of turns and the group blasted away leaving me behind. I was OK with that, as at this point, I just wanted to enjoy my final moto, load up and go home.

By the last lap, the rest of the 40+ guys were a half a lap ahead of me, (or better). And I had been passed by two racers from the 60+ class and they were ahead of me. I had just crossed the scoring line for the white flag. There were a couple of riders behind me in pursuit, (60+ racers). First turn after white flag, no problem. But going into the second turn (180deg hairpin) I had a rider working a pass around me in the corner. So I cut it tight to the inside, and he swept the outside. We both emerged from the corner hard on the throttle, but then he decides to gun it hard and crosses over into my line in the middle of the track before the small single jump. He cuts hard left and his rear wheel hits my front wheel so hard that I can't even react fast enough to save it, and down I go. I slammed the deck incredibly hard and wadded up. The SOB didn't even look back to see what he had just done, and HE KNEW IT! I managed to get up and started yelling and raising both fist at the ass as he raced away. My very last lap, of my final weekend moto (#8), without any issue and the SOB takes me out.

I'm over it now, but I was spitting nails. After getting my YZ restarted, I made everybody wait on me as I was determined to get in my final lap.

Some race pic's.
