Tomac got hurt two seasons ago. Without even crashing. Broke his leg again. Didn’t crash. Or did he ? I dunno. That’s technical and these guys are getting hurt. I think more so than previously. I dunno tho
Tomac didn't fall but he managed to physically wreck the lower anterior portion of his achilles repaired leg. He dabbed his foot down hard coming out of a left turn rut and then failed to get his foot above the peg to jam his toes on the immediately following jump face. I've experienced a lower left leg posterior injury followed a few years later by an anterior injury so I couldn't help but cringe when I watched the video. Eli really should have paid attention to what his leg was trying to tell him and not raced the main. That undoubtedly caused further tissue damage. If the at the track medical crew was involved, their medical diagnostic capabilities have been proven to be minimal at best. Remember, Jett maybe only had a stinger?
Think maybe these bikes, tracks and speeds are putting more stress on the human body than it was designed to handle? Training can only go so far...

I hate to say it, but the tracks are too fast only because of how capable these bikes are. Watch an early 2000s sx, the speed was incredibly slower. Theyre now able to hit gigantic rythems right out of a corner. If eli didnt have that 3 in in his head, would he have pushed the corner as hard where he broke his leg? I duno. I had the same break that he just did twice 1 year apart at scenic and one break was 1 inch above the last. It sucked and there was no way i couldve rode our tracks let alone a sx track after i did it. Jetts knee was common and inevitable moto accidents. You'll always have those in this sport.

Stock pistons, stock bottom ends, stock ecu and a dollar limit on suspension with no full custom parts would help slow things down a tad along with strategically built sections of the tracks. Some of those triple ins are nutty with how big the 3rd jump is. Do or die. Would be safer with removing the 3 in and going 2-3 whatever in rythems.

Well, the big 3 in ate up Anderson. Luckily he didnt seem too injured.. Some guys stopped jumping it too. Was funny they zerod in on the broadcast about the same jump i mentioned earlier.

just watching in person and the broadcast you can tell they do track prep a ton more than they used to. One talking point is how bullshit the new rule is. Used to be 90 percent of the race complete the race was just done. You knew going into the restart that Levi knew exactly what he was about to do and Max go screwed after literally being in cruise mode for 3 laps. They passed mcadoo laying there three times before the red flag. So there’s 7 seconds left in the race there only going to pass him one more time why not just let the race finish ? Have the Red Cross out and finish it. If I am max and star id be pissed but at the end of the day racing is racing I guess but some rule changes aren’t always for the better

Just like Nascar. They throw a caution on Thursday night and screw the winner over on the last lap, then in the 500 the wreck is way before the finish line and no caution is thrown. Zero consistency in the sanctioning body throwing cautions.

Hard to make a quick decision.

I do appreciate the more often red flags though regardless of what the outcome or rules are. Its nice to see them using the red flag if a concern arises. I also like to see the tuffblock in front of a downed rider protocol!

Totally agree however if you’re going to red flag you can’t second guess it. It needs to be an onsite immediate decision not 2-3 laps of them going by the downed rider then the red flag. Should of been as soon as they knew he was laying there in danger of getting hit

How can it be immediate? The lap times are under a minute.

When the last time you walloped your ass into the ground? How long did it take you to get your bearings and get off the track or back going?

So you lose the first 20-30 seconds seeing if the guy is actually hurt. Then when he tries to get moving you waste another 20 seconds as the rider checks himself over. And is either on the way or….(add another 20 seconds). Adjust levers 10 more seconds. …. Bout 2 minutes is probably reasonable after a big stinger to be completely done.

2:30-3 minutes to make make that decision.

Love these videos

Regardless of how or if you agree with the AMA handling the restart, their rules,
or whatever, you must admit those last 3 laps were exciting! Ditto with Sexton's
charge from last to 3rd

I’m just saying from a safety standpoint he was laying there and not getting off the track so since he was in a bad spot I’m saying be more immediate on the red flag instead of letting them go by 3 times. Cause only 7 seconds left he would of just got the white flag so might as well just let them pass thru one more times and throw the Red Cross
