AMA Competition Rules - Flags

The AMA amateur yellow flag rules for national events is the stupidest rule ever. So you got little Johnny and Bobby and their Daddy's telling them, you see yellow don't you dare back off. And if possible use the yellow to your advantage. Keep racing boys!

How in the world does anyone think this is safe when you have a rider down and possibly a flagger or someone on the track assisting them?

Stupid rule in my opinion.

What makes no sense is say someone is to go protest and say they were jumping and passing but looked unsafe. You can’t dock that person because they could be comfortable. Just way to much grey area

Yea exactly. The level of “open to interpretation” that’s afforded to the official is ridiculous.

What’s so hard about “not gaining a position” ?

As soon as you see the FLASHING lights tho it’s wheels on ground ? No passing ?

I mean at the end of the day amateur racing we ain’t making money even A class not making that much at these bigger races. So why even bother changing the rules. What’s going to happen is they are just going to pull the Red Cross out immediately and use it how they use to use a yellow flag. If they wanted to change the rule it still should state no passing because passing usually involves aggression and pushing which completely blows the rule of still having caution while passing and jumping on yellow. Might as well just say keep racing and just don’t hit the guy down with the yellow flag but don’t slow down lol

Its so engrained in my brain I'll have a hard time not respecting the situation as i normally do. I always look out for others when i see that flag and usually immediately look back to potentially protect downed rider.
