Outdoor Nationals - Some times for perspective

With High Point being in our backyard, some Ohio riders attempted to qualify for the big show.
These guys absolutely rip at our local tracks, so here are some times to put things into perspective:

450 class
Fast qualifier was Justin Cooper with a 2:01 (fractional seconds omitted)
Jeremy Hand was 17th with a 2:09
Cade Clason, 30th at 2:11
Brett Heidorn 46th at 2:17
Jack Winland 55th at 2:22
Gavin Mays 62nd at 2:23

250 Class
Fast Qualifier was Haiden Deegan with a 2:02
Hayden Hoover was 60th at 2:15
Tony Usko 64th at 2:18
Kyle Czworkowski 79th at 2:37

Props to your efforts, keep digging and don't give up!

Both classes are insanely deep don’t matter which one. Most them boys are all my buddies and all rip locally. Just like you said puts in perspective. Craziest thing is there hardest and fastest laps going aa fast as they can are all 15-20 seconds off. Like when you start to break it down how the hell do those dudes do it and go that damn fast in comparison. Those tenths of seconds start to add up that’s for sure. I mean especially on high point where there isn’t any crazy jumps or anything

The boys (Heirdorn, Hoover, Mays and Jack) were all pitted together. Ohio clan! They are all still learning qualifying sprint speed, no mistakes, how to navigate traffic and yellow flags to get that perfect lap. For the most part qualifying 1 is going to be your fastest time, although Bret made his best in 2. They are all capable of making it in and will. A lot of it is mental preparedness. For Jack he struggles in the AM with balance, once he gets a session in he’s good, But then it’s too late. We started experimenting with a balance board before Q1 and it did help. He actually qualified P10 with a 2:18.8 in Q1. We still haven’t figured out why the scoring got skewed somewhere in the mix. Doesn’t really matter it wasn’t good enough, just a few gate pics. Bret and Jack got caught up in a start crash in the LCQ, Gavin was looking good until he lost his arms. Yes, the field is deep and fast in both. Time can easily be made up by these boys, they just have to ride a little more uncomfortable. Example: Jack was god awful slow down the staircase, easy 2-4 seconds. Big downhill in the back 1-2 seconds. Pretty good every where else but pick up tenths in the other spots. Highpoint does appear to be an easy track without big separation obstacles but it’s the track condition in the qualifiers that separates the best. All the boys would have loved to ride the motos and were frothing at the mouth of how good the track was after cleaning it up. Best part of the weekend is that it somehow didn’t rain for our rides! Matt.

Actually best part was being parked by sound testing! Deegs failed twice. Entire Kawi team changed pipes watched a Yami fail with a stock pipe. The boys didn’t have a mandatory check but got tested for curiosity. They all passed. We failed a few times last year so this was nice!

Those top riders are just always on the gas. And it's not 1/2 or 3/4 throttle. They come out of the corners and the twist it hard all the time. That's where those seconds come off.
