Thievery in SC

Ask for them to send you a copy of your policy form....not just the declarations page. I'd be happy to review it for you. If you want a definite answer, call and ask to speak to a claims supervisor as their decisions will override what a customer service rep tells you as they have the final say.

I have been doing this for 22 years now and there is a racing exclusion in every single auto related policy form out there. However, there are specialty companies out there that have a niche in motorsports that will provide coverage for racing. It's not cheap.

The customer service experience Rep transfered me to a policy specialist because she said she wasn't the qualified person to speak with, the specialist was. It is a specific off road vehicle policy. My agent had told me the same thing when I purchased it. I only called in because of this debate.

I though you were an agent?
I sell employee benefits. I deal with Allstate, but it is really American Heritage Life. Don't want anything to do with P&C Business.

With allstate it must not be gray......the policy specialist specifically said it is covered no matter where including an organized racing event. I'd change insurers if that's the bad rap at progressive.

Hershey, I would like to know the answer just for my own knowledge. All I know is I was told it was covered for theft where ever I was, track included. I was also told that if Matthew was at the track, and say riding through the pits and hit a car, I would be covered also. Guess I need to research a little more to see if my agent was correct or not.

Did your agent step in and try to help you?

They always say, your insurance is only as good as your agent.

So I called my insurance today after looking through my policy "recreational vehicle" and I'm covered 100% if I'm hobby/trail riding but no coverage once it is being raced. I have 2 bike with State Farm and I asked these question before I got coverage on first bike. I told the woman I was going out of town and had concern that if the bike is stolen will it be covered? "Yes it is covered" I started reading here and vital to find out I should have asked if races were excluded because it is LOL she specifically said racing or jumping, I said well I do race and even in practice I jump so this policy is basically a waste for what I like to do. She responded and said yea pretty much you're not covered if that's what you do.

Where to get coverage now? Should I ask more question with State Farm or switch the policy?

I just got off the phone with allstate, I couldn't find my policy online. Lashanda, a licenced allstate policy representative, told me specifically..... "you have comprehensive coverage on your off road vehicle policy, it doesn't matter where it stolen from, it is covered. " I then asked her specifically....if I'm at anight organized racing event and my dirt bike is stolen, is it covered? Her answer...."yes, it is yours and you have comprehensive coverage on it, it doesn't matter where it is stolen from, it is covered."

It doesn't get much clearer than that. My policy is through allstate.

Who is your agent?

Your not covered for collision. Agents are not smart sometimes. But it's the theft protection you want.

I use Scott paulley with Allstate in Xenia Ohio. Prior to allstate I was with Cincinnati insurance, and it was a pain for my agent, but he always got Cincinnati to give me a policy because everything I owned was with them, so they did....much cheaper than allstate.

Car wreck by a 16 year old though, and Cincinnati dropped me after 21 years. Really sucked. I was way over paying on my harley with Cincinnati though. They don't like covering things like atvs, motorcycles, boats or wave runners.

Geico.

Geico does not offer coverage for racing either. So basically insurance covers them as long as their in your garage. Or they burn up in a trailer on the road.

Allstate specifically told me that the comprehensive portion of the coverage didnt matter where the bike was located, it is covered. End of story. Collision is a different story all together. Allstate wont allow me to have comp only on the dirt bike. This isnt coming from my agent, I called into Allstate and had to talk to 2 different people to get an answer.
